At Flashcard Maker, your privacy is built into the design of our app. This policy outlines how we handle your information and reinforces our commitment to your data ownership. We operate a "Zero-Server" model, meaning we do not own or manage any servers that store your personal study data.
We do not collect, store, or have access to the flashcards you create.
Your Content: All text, images, diagrams, and study metadata are created by you and stay under your control.
No Accounts: You are not required to create an account, provide an email address, or share any personal identifiers to use Flashcard Maker.
To keep your library in sync across your Mac, iPad, and iPhone, Flashcard Maker uses Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) service.
The Infrastructure: Your data is stored within your private Apple account. We do not maintain any independent servers or databases for your study records.
Third-Party Terms: All data stored within the iCloud ecosystem is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/)
Security: Your data is encrypted during transit and while at rest. If you have enabled Apple’s “Advanced Data Protection,” your flashcards are end-to-end encrypted and inaccessible even to Apple.
We believe in a focused learning environment free from surveillance.
No Third-Party SDKs: Flashcard Maker contains no third-party analytics (such as Google Analytics or Firebase) and no tracking pixels.
No Advertisements: We do not serve ads, and we do not sell or share your data with any third parties.
Anonymized Diagnostics: We may receive anonymized crash reports or basic usage statistics through Apple App Store Connect only if you have explicitly opted-in to sharing “Share with App Developers” in your iOS/macOS settings.
Flashcard Maker may request access to your device’s features to enhance your study experience. These are processed locally:
Camera/Photos: Used strictly to import images into your flashcards.
FaceID/Passcode: If enabled, authentication is handled entirely by the Secure Enclave on your device. We never see or store your biometric data.
Since we do not store your data on our own servers, we do not have the ability to “delete” it for you. You have full control:
Manual Deletion: Deleting a card or deck within the app immediately removes it from your device and your iCloud sync storage.
Complete Wipe: To remove all data associated with the app from the cloud, go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > Flashcard Maker > Delete Data.
Flashcard Maker is designed to comply with global privacy laws by not collecting personal data in the first place. For the purposes of these laws, you remain the owner of your data, and Apple acts as the secure storage provider.
