Frequently Asked Questions
How do I set up Photo Frame?
Photo Frame works with iPhotos (shared albums). Your family creates a shared
photo album in iPhotos and adds you to it. In Photo Frame, you simply connect
to that one shared album - that's all you have to do. Your family shares photos
of daily life, and you get notified when new photos arrive.
Why can't the app find my shared albums?
Make sure you have:
- Granted photo library access permission when prompted
- At least one iCloud shared album in your Photos app
- iOS 16.6 or later installed
- You're signed into iCloud on your device
How does the notification feature work?
Unlike other photo frame apps where photos just quietly appear in the slideshow,
Photo Frame explicitly notifies you when new photos arrive - just like email
notifications. You'll see a clear notification indicator, so you know exactly
when your family has shared something new.
How often does the app check for new photos?
Photo Frame checks for new photos every minute. When new photos arrive, they are
automatically displayed. If you're inactive, you'll see a notification counter
showing how many new photos have arrived.
How does the auto-cycling slideshow work on iPad?
On iPad, the app automatically cycles through photos every minute when inactive,
with smooth dissolve transitions. This continues until you interact with the screen.
The cycling continues even when new photos arrive.
Can I change which album is displayed?
Yes! If you have multiple shared albums, you can select which one to display when
you first launch the app. The app will remember your selection.
Do videos play automatically?
Yes, videos automatically play when they appear in the slideshow. After a video finishes
or is paused, a large play button appears so you can replay it easily.
Is Photo Frame really free?
Yes! Photo Frame is 100% free. No subscription fees, no hidden costs, no credit
card required. Download it once and use it forever. Unlike most photo frame apps that
charge monthly subscription fees, Photo Frame is completely free.
What iOS version do I need?
Photo Frame requires iOS 16.6 or later. Make sure your device is running a compatible
version of iOS.
Does Photo Frame upload my photos to the internet?
No. Photo Frame only accesses photos that are already in your iCloud shared albums. All
photos remain on your device and in your iCloud account. We do not collect, store,
or transmit any of your photos. See our Privacy
Policy for more details.
The app shows "No shared albums found" and exits. What should I do?
This means the app couldn't find any iCloud shared albums in your photo library. To fix this:
- Make sure you have at least one shared album in the Photos app
- Check that you've granted photo library access permission
- Ensure you're signed into iCloud on your device
- Try creating a new shared album and adding some photos to it
System Requirements
- iOS 16.6 or later
- iPhone or iPad
- iCloud account with shared photo albums
- Photo library access permission
